Spring Style Inspiration: Miss. Honey

If you read my latest post, Things I Learned From Matilda as a Child and as an Adult, then you know I’ve been in a Matilda kick lately. The feel good classic 90’s film is still one of my favorites. It is one of the best films and books from my childhood. Perhaps you might agree. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend watching it. I have also been in a 90s fashion frenzy as well. As a kid from the 90s, 90s style is not only nostalgic, but a comfortable part of my identity and childhood. When I was looking up outfits for this post and book notes on the character of Miss. Honey and I found this fun article:

I thought it was a fun article, especially since watching the film again I’ve been inspired by Miss. Honey’s style too!

90’s style is back in season with cardigans, high-waisted denim, and floral prints. Miss. Honey’s style fits that look beautifully and her style is so lovely and timeless for spring.

I’m already wearing similar styles from my own closet. Here are three spring looks inspired by our favorite movie teacher:

Look One. Floral print dress with puffy sleeves:

Look Two. Floral print dress with a pink cardigan and white sneakers:

Look Three. Light-wash overalls with a pink t-shirt.

Miss. Honey wears this look twice in the film; once with long overalls and another with short overalls.

Honorable mentions:

Two other looks that Miss. Honey wears in the film are two piece shirt and skirt sets such as this pink gingham set and mauve-pink floral set.

At the end of the film she also wears this lovely white floral dress.

Miss. Honey’s style is very feminine and timeless. She wears more conservative clothing with midi and maxi length skirts and dresses, feminine cardigans, collared tops, floral print fabrics, and a long chain necklace. Her shoes are flats; white sneakers and classic neutral loafers with white socks. To channel Miss. Honey this spring, try one of the outfit combinations mentioned above or pair your favorite floral top with a long skirt and simple flats.
