The Little Things No. 26

The little things really do add up, which is why every Friday I end the week on a positive note with appreciation for the little things in my life that make up a greater sense of joy.  I hope you join me today in appreciating the good, no matter how small. I will also be sharing links from time to time about things that are inspirational, funny, beautiful, or important.

Because this is about appreciation rather than perfection, I’m not only including my professional quality photos, but some cellphone snaps as well. You can expect to see a more candid look into my life every week with my The Little Things blog posts every Friday.

Dear Friends,

As you might have guessed, the past week or so has been a little hectic for me. As an introvert, I need my solitude to recharge. I’m so active, outdoorsy, and outgoing that people usually assume I’m an extrovert, but the opposite is true. I’m not at all shy, but I need some quiet and time spent at home to feel de-stressed and to keep my creativity and outgoing spirit charged. Which is why, for the second week in a row I am sharing my The Little Things post on a Monday instead of a Friday.

Today feels like a sad day for me. I got some news last night, primarily about someone who used to be in my life that is still trying to cause me and my family harm. It feels a little unreal, but I’m so thankful that I have moved on. I’m sad of course that this person is hurting the people that I love. Gosh, does that mess me up inside. But I’m also proud of myself for coming so far, for building up my own self-worth and resilience. It has taken so much work and I’m still on that journey. This news shook me up a little bit, but I’m also so much stronger than I was several months ago. I was still able to get up this morning and feel good about myself. If you wake up with joy in your heart, never take that for granted.

The little things I am thankful for this week are;

The book “The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse’ by Charlie Mackesy. The book was given to me as a birthday gift from a new friend and I have been reading it to myself before bed EVERY night. The first time I read it, I cried because it made me feel so good. Now I read it to for some positivity, compassion, and love before I sleep. Here are just a few of my favorite pages:

This giant oversized scrunchie by Jane Dottie Vintage.

My short walk in the rain yesterday morning.

Bella Grace Magazine. There are a few magazines that I enjoy for their simplicity, wellbeing articles, and imagery. Bella Grace is one of them. Since the Pandemic started, most magazines have not been in stock in our area. It feels good to finally pick up a new magazine again.

Dresses being hung up to air dry.

The sounds of crickets and frogs making music into the air outside of our window at night.

Mint ice cream on a hot summers evening.

What little things are you appreciating this week?

With appreciation,

Courtney
