Brittany and James are getting married next April at the Pond House at Elizabeth Park! This lovely Spring engagement session at Harkness Memorial State Park was the perfect way to celebrate this lovely occasion. It is amazing how quickly a year can go by, so slowing down to appreciate the moment is the best way to celebrate an engagement. I have been looking forward to photographing Brittany and James since meeting with them several months ago when the snow was still on the ground. We welcomed Spring by taking photographs all over this gorgeous state park from the gardens to the pagoda to the beach.
When Brittany made some requests for more moodier and adventurous images I was thrilled because my photography style has been evolving over the past couple years. I have been incorportating more outdoorsy and adventurous images along with the timeless black and whites, editorial portraits, and candid photojournalistic images that I love to take. The bright sunlight and the pastel nature of Spring made for a more light hearted photo shoot earlier in the day than we were first aiming for, but when the sunlight turned gold we took some epic images on the beach as the sun went down. I love blending various styles with my photography and following each couple’s unique story because no two engagements are the same; I wouldn’t want to fit a couple into a cookie cutter photo mold. Brittany and James were so much fun to work with and I hope that I was able to capture the vibrancy of their warm and fun relationship.
I love a couple with a sense of humor! (P.S. He said yes.)After exploring all we could of the beautiful Eolia Mansion gardens, we made out way to the boardwalk to the beach. The sound is lovely this time as the sun is going down. It was the perfect ending to a great day. This is perhaps one of my favorite images of 2018: Congratulations, James and Brittany! I am so thrilled to be working with you and I cannot wait for your wedding next Spring.
