Thrifted Treasures | Jeannette Pink Depression Glassware

I first discovered pink Jeannette Depression Glass several years ago at the Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market in New Milford while looking for pink glassware for our wedding decorations. I never did find enough pink glass to use as vases for our tables, but I did find a sweet set of little pink glasses that I brought home. Back in the spring while searching for more online for a tea party, I found a matching set and they had a name! I had no idea that my mini pink depression glass collection was going to turn into a little delightful thrifted collection. The Jeannette Glass Co. was based in Jeannette, Pennsylvania and they were one of the top 14 producers of depression glass in the United States.

The Jeannette Glass Co. had a humble beginning making bottles and glass containers for pharmacies and other companies. By the late 1920s they were making depression glass in numerous colors, including pink from 1928-1938. They eventually switched over to milk glass through the 1950s as that became more in demand.

I adore the soft peachy pink of this glass and it amazes me how old this glassware is. They had about 12 different designs. This particular bowl is from their cherry blossom collection.

Pieces from this collection can range anywhere between $25-100 online. This bowl in particular is usually listed between $45-65, but I found it for only $15 at my local Goodwill.

Two of my favorite places to thrift for vintage kitchenwares are Goodwill and Etsy. Goodwill is my go-to in person store. I am usually able to find crystal and depression glass here. In fact, I go to Goodwill for most of my glassware needs. This past spring I thrifted some lovely glass candlestick holders and crystal plates for a tea party I hosted. I also use Goodwill for dish-ware and tea cups. But every once in a while I am able to discover something unexpected, like this Jeannette pink depression glass bowl.
