A Christmas Tree Skirt Cloak

Have you ever seen a Christmas tree skirt so pretty that you wanted to wrap it around your shoulders like a cloak and wear it around like days of old or wear it like a skirt? I thought I was alone in this silly and festive thought, until I saw another girl online post herself wrapped up in her favorite Christmas tree skirt. If you search #ChristmasTreeSkirtCloak about a hundred other photos come up. It is strange how we feel sometimes that we need permission from others to do what we want. When it comes to silly little things that bring us joy, fear of judgement or being thought of as “weird” can prevent us from stepping outside the box.

You do not need anyone’s permission or validation to do what you want or wear what you want. But in case you needed that reminder, I am here to say go for it. Life is short. Be yourself, wear what you want to, have fun, be silly, try new things, and yes, wear the Christmas tree skirt cloak.

So I went for it. I gave myself permission to have fun and be creative. And when I brought the tree skirt up to the check out counter, can you guess what the check out clerk said? “Oh my! Wouldn’t that just make the most darling cloak? I know it’s a tree skirt, but I want to wear it.”

Blushing I replied, “Actually, that is exactly what I am buying it for.” I got a few giggles from people in line, but a girl behind me shared a smile with me. I could see that creative spark. There are kindred spirits all around us.
