A New England Spring Wish List | Spring 2023

Spring is in full swing and I haven’t even shared my spring wish list yet! At the start of every season I like to take my planner out and write down a list of activities to do and places to explore. Writing down my seasonal goals, no matter how small, helps me to appreciate the season while it is here. Like every list I make, it is not a to-do list. -It is more of an inspiration list. If I do not get to every item, there is no pressure to do it all. Anything I miss can be done next year. These lists do not exist to cause me more stress, but to motivate me to have more fun.

I work hard. I’m sure you do too. There never seems to be enough time in the day. That is what I love abut spring though; it is a slower season that reminds us to take it all in. The flowers seem to take forever to get here, but when they do they are gone in a blink of an eye. First the forsythia, then the daffodils, the cherry blossoms, the tulips, the magnolias, the lilacs, and the lupines end the season. Each one comes and goes.

I hope you take a moment to write down a list of your own. My list this year is simple:

One. Make a magnolia flower syrup.

Two. Bake something nice and bring it out on a picnic.

Three. Host bookclub outside on a warm day for an outdoor bookclub picnic.

Four. Visit a local daffodil field.

Five. Explore a new-to-me local town.

Six. Read outside.

Seven. Make dandelion “honey.”

Eight. Make dandelion body oil and put it into little bottles to give as gifts.

Nine. Spring clean my apartment.

Ten. Read a book about gardening.

Eleven. Press spring flowers into my flower press.

Twelve. Visit a local library I have never been to before.

Thirteen. Write in a spring journal.

Fourteen. Look at art in a museum.

Fifteen. Read under a lilac tree.
