Welcoming In Simplicity

Welcoming in Simplicity.

Life is not simple. We navigate this complex world through school, careers, and relationships. Now we do not just juggle “real life,” we also have our digital worlds to manage as well. Throw in commitments, extracurricular activities, hobbies, work, exercise, cleaning, and everything in our lives that is “urgent,” but maybe not all that important down the road, and life becomes busy.

Life happens. Loved ones pass away and new family members are born. Life is short and precious, which is why I am removing the noise and choosing to live a life of intention. I am welcoming simplicity into my life.

Those who know me well know that clutter stresses me out. That includes the mental clutter I accumulate. Matthew and I don’t have cable for this very reason, but we do use the internet and that is something we are both planning on being more conscientious about. We eat healthy food to nourish our bodies, now we need to consume content more wisely to nourish our souls.

So how do I plan on welcoming simplicity? The first step is to clear the clutter, mentally and physically.

Be mindful. Consume less and cut the ties with the consumerism mentality. Live a sustainable lifestyle for myself and the planet. I will start clearing the clutter in my digital environment and spend less time in the digital universe. Truly, I need to prioritize my time to focus on more positive content and my business and less time elsewhere. I think we all know how one click can lead to another and before we know it we have watched twenty cat videos and it is practically midnight. Then I will clear the rest of my clutter starting with my home and my life.

The aim is to simplify, but the goal is to remove the noise and fill it with the best life offers: maintaining positive relationships, cooking healthy meals, spending time outdoors, spending less money and saving up for travel and my wedding instead, moving more and getting in fun exercise, and spending more time doing what I love. I will quit overscheduling myself and get in a full nights rest every night. No more spreading my life too thin. I will make my mornings count. I will live the way I want to live.

With summer finally here, it is time to reevaluate how I spend my time. Life is simple. Life is lovely. It is time to get back to the basics.
