I had the honor of assisting photographer, Ruben Gamara or Ruben’s Photography two weekends ago. Here is his website: http://www.rubenphotography.com/portfolio.html?folio=Portfolio. He was kind enough to let me use my photos online, in my portfolio, and in any way I please, which is a special treat. Usually when second shooting or assisting another photographer they do not let you keep or use your images for numerous reasons including copyright. So I really must thank Ruben for allowing me to share all these pictures with you. Thank you, Ruben! I learned a lot and had lots of fun doing it.
I got to ride a carousal and had ice cream form the ice cream truck at the reception. (Really! There was an ice cream truck!) This wedding was a playground for my inner child. I was more than happy with my spongebob ice cream. Laryssa and Ryan are a super cool couple. Just see for yourselves!
The ceremony was held under this cute “Cuddle Up” Pavilion. When Mr. Gamara told m that the ceremony was at a park I pictured I field with rows of white chairs. We walked past two bridges through a woodsy path and then suddenly I was in front of the carousal and all of these fun buildings from the late 1800s-1940s. Apparently Glen Echo Park was quite the destination back in the day. Enchanting! The reception was held in the old bumper car pavilion! This is the original art that adorns the top. Laryssa and Ryan practiced their dance before the ceremony by the carousal then performed their gorgeous routine for their many entertained guests. After dinner everyone ran out to the carousal for rides.
These night portraits were all taken with the natural light because a flash or off camera light set up would have interfered with Ruben’s work. I love the drama of the natural light, but one day I would love to return with some off camera lighting and really have fun with this awesome carnival set up.
