Always Be Learning | Year of Living Lovely Project | September Goals

September is your typical “back-to-school” month here in New England, which is only part of the reason why I made this my Year of Living Lovely Project’s goal to focus on learning. The full reason is that I believe learning new things, no matter your age, is important to our well-being. When we learn new things, our brains and our minds expand. We become actively engaged in a new technique, process, or even an art form. We learn new things about our bodies, our abilities, and our personalities.

“Always be learning” means exactly that. Let your mind stay open to new possibilities and learning opportunities. Try new things. It keeps our minds sharp and our bodies strong.

My three monthly goals are:

  1. Learn a new skill that has been on my wish list for a long time. (For me, this skill is learning French. I am heading “back to school” to learn a new language! This one will be a long term goal, but yours doesn’t have to be. It can be anything you have wanted to learn from how to tie a scarf twelve ways to learning how to play a new game to taking on a whole new language. What have you always wanted to learn?)
  2. Learn a new technique in my chosen field. For me, this is either in writing or photography. My goal this month is to master video lighting for wedding photography receptions.
  3. Learn something about the world. We live in this lovely great big world full of amazing places, people, and cultures. I love learning about it. This month I want to challenge myself to learn about places I have rarely ever heard of. This looks like a task for my atlas.
