An Autumn Retreat At Winvian Farm | Connecticut Charm

Today I want to welcome you to a whimsical getaway in the rolling hills of Litchfield County, where you will find what the Hideaway Report has called the “best hotel in Connecticut.” Winvian Farm is a luxury hotel with unique cottages for rent, a spa, a pool, a wedding venue, and farm-to-table dining at their beautiful restaurant. I had the honor of visiting Winvian the other week right after the peak of the autumn season. The vivid autumn leaves made the resort a magical place, but its beauty was so much more than just the leaves. Depending on your hobbies and interests, you can find a cottage that is perfect for you. Each cottage is a unique destination to explore featuring individual themes. And yes, one of those cottages is actually a tree house! 

Winvian Farm is where you go to rejuvenate, refresh, and retreat from the hustle of our busy world. Whether you’re looking for time out in nature, rest and relaxation at the spa, outdoor activities and adventures, or a romantic vacation for two; Winvian is more than a place to stay, it is a destination within itself. The cottages also feature spa-like bathrooms and fireplaces. This cabin is known as “the artist,”cottage and each room featured lovely and vibrant artwork. I could easily stay here forever.

My mother joined me for our recent visit and we were amazed by how big the resort actually was. The cottages were lovely and so very creative; I only wish I could have seen inside them all, especially the Library Cottage. Once a book worm, always a book warm. Perhaps my favorite feature may actually be found outdoors; each cottage comes with two bicycles for exploring during your stay. 

You can easily lose track of time when exploring Winvian. There are some walking trails and even a lovely pond. If you’re fond of outdoor activities, the staff will happily recommend some local adventures for your visit.  And when you’re all tuckered out from your adventures, you may even find the perfect space outside your cottage for a little hot apple cider break. 

You may want to explore the spa next. 

And when you find yourself ready for dinner, a short walk will bring you to the restaurant at Winvian Farms, with an authentic garden-to-table menu. 

Walking into these rooms feels like stepping back into Colonial New England. 

And after dinner you can enjoy time in the game room downstairs or find a cozy spot near the fire.
