Brizo, Rocky Hill | Connecticut Charm

Recently in my Connecticut Charm blog series I have been sharing great places around the state to eat and today I am really thrilled to be sharing Brizo with you! It is not every day that I can find a sea food restaurant that my non-sea food loving husband and I both love.

Brizo Fish opened just nine months ago in Rocky Hill and their lobster rolls have already been voted as the best in Connecticut by Connecticut Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards! It’s safe to say that I had my eye on the lobster roll. So of course I ordered one, and I have to say that I agree with Connecticut Magazine! That is really saying something, because I’m a big lobster roll fan. Last summer I wrote about my favorite lobster roll places in Connecticut. If Brizo’s was in existence last summer, it definitely would have made the top. Something tells me that I will be making a new lobster roll post some time soon! They were also voted as the best new restaurant and best restaurant for sea food. We visited Brizo’s last Friday night after receiving an invite from Bird Social Media. It was a perfect opportunity to try some place new for date night.

From the outside, Brizo’s appears as an unassuming restaurant, but once you go inside you are transported into a nautical wonderland. Brizo’s owner, Fran, gave his seafood restaurant a modern twist on nautical design, cocktails, and their seafood menu featuring both small and big plates. “I didn’t want people to come in and see the typical anchors and ropes,” he told us. Instead, he let his designer give Brizo a fresh twist on nautical design. It’s something you should truly see for yourself.

Amanda, Brizo’s mixologist, hand crafted this nautical themed cocktail menu.

Real mermaids drink the “Sea Foam Dream.”

Did someone say crab cake? I highly recommend the crab cake and the oysters for a delicious sea food starter.

For $1.75 each for oysters, you can order any number of oysters you desire. Occasionally, Brizo’s hosts Oyster Shucking demonstrations, giving participants their own shucking knife to learn how to properly shuck an oyster. Check them out on Instagram to learn about the latest events.

At Brizo’s you can walk on water. -A water floor mural that is.

Can’t make it for dinner? Every Sunday from 11-3 you can enjoy Sunday Brunch at Brizo’s.

Matthew ordered the NY Strip and thoroughly enjoyed every bite on his plate. If you’re not a sea food fan, like Matthew, then there are plenty of meat lovers and vegetarian options on the menu to choose from.

Of course, I had to order what they’re most known for; a hot lobster roll drizzled with butter in a toasted brioche roll. Delicious! At Brizo’s you really get your value when you order the lobster roll. -Over flowing with chunky lobster meat and with an extra side of melted butter.

There is no polite way to eat a lobster roll; you just gotta go for it!

Amanda has created some truly inspiring cocktails. I’m not really a drinker of alcohol, but my husband knows a good cocktail when he sees one and he thoroughly enjoyed his cocktails at Brizo’s during our date night.

I don’t know how we still had room for desert, but we somehow managed. Matthew ordered this delicious Cold Fusion Sorbet (blackberry merlot) and I ordered the Chocolate Raspberry Dome. We ended up sharing them with one another because they were both too good not to share.

Thank you for having us for dinner, Brizo! We can’t wait to come back.
