Most days I’m not human until I eat breakfast. On one particular morning we were walking around the park and side streets looking for something simple, but satisfying. Matthew may have accused me of being “hangry,” but I am sure I am not the only breakfast-lover out there. If you’re looking for a place to find breakfast in Charleston, look no further.
On our summer trip to Charleston we found many charming places to eat, but Carmella’s was one of my favorite surprise finds. It is also a dog friendly establishment if your furry friend is along for the day.
This sweet little shop, located at 198 E Bay St #100, was charming and peaceful in the morning hours. Fresh teas, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches were enjoyed at the bar and the comfortable table seats by the windows, overflowing with pillows and Charleston magazines. The gelato selection also looks divine.
I highly recommend Carmella’s for the sweet Charleston atmosphere and the delicious crescent egg sandwiches.
By day, Carmella’s is a cute little café, but by night, it is all lit up and ready for the wine bar. When we walked by it in the dark we hardly recognized it, but it looked fresh and fun. My family will be taking a large family trip next year to Charleston late next summer and I will be returning to Carmella’s. (It would be a crime not to try the gelato.) So if you are looking for a simple, sophisticated, and relaxed place to satisfy your breakfast-monster, come here first thing.
