Connecticut Charm | Foxwoods Resort Ice Rink

The outdoor ice rink at Connecticut’s Foxwoods Resort and Casino is my favorite outdoor ice rink in the state. Normally, a casino is not my scene, however, Foxwoods really knows how to create a winter wonderland. Right after New Years we went to the ice rink to look at the Christmas decorations. Sadly, it started to rain when we arrived so I took a couple photos before we explored the resort inside. The tall christmas tree and decorations were out. The second time we visited the rink, the sun was shining beautifully but the decorations were away for the end of the holidays. Still, the rink had Connecticut charm and 100,000 twinkling lights around the rink that keep the rink looking festive. The tree on our first rainy visit:Our second trip to the ice skating rink turned out to be a gorgeous winter day. Skaters are welcome to bring their own ice skates or rent a pair for $5 inside at the ticket booth. Skating is only $10 per adult. Tickets are sold right inside to the left of the doors. Stow away your shoes in a cubby inside this cute little house by the rink. I brought along a little breakfast tea and pastry and ate in front of the fire pit in an adirondack chair. When you visit the rink bring a warm drink and a good snack. Keep warm and cozy while out on the ice. Wear thick socks to keep your feet comfortable in the skates so you can skate all day long. Don’t forget your gloves and bring along a hat or head wrap. This pink winter headband from Forever 21 is one of my personal favorites because I can wear it with my hair up or down and it keeps me warm. I especially love the beading to the side. Did I mention that the ice rink at Foxwoods is also a dreamy backdrop for a romantic date? As the sun goes down the twinkle lights shine brighter. Matthew is a perfect gentleman. He is a stronger skater than I am so he carried my camera so I would not fall on it. Although I have to say, once I got my skate legs back I was gliding across the ice and did not fall once. The rink is right behind the Foxwoods tower and parking in the garage is free. Cozy up by the fire and watch the sunset behind the mountains. The resort is large, but the view is all landscape. It is amazing that there are no other buildings in site from behind the large casino. After the sun sets, grab dinner at one of the many restaurants. We had dinner at the Hardrock Cafe before taking another stroll on the ice. The rink is magical lit up at night! You really don’t want to miss it in person. The camera really did not do it justice. The Foxwoods ice rink is open all winter long. The weather has been unpredictable, but the rink is always icy and cool.
