Diana is the owner of a bridal accessories business and she hand crafts each piece herself! I have enjoyed browsing through photos of her pieces on her Facebook page and she will be launching a brand new website soon. Here is a look at what inspires Diana’s creations and her advice for couples on their wedding day:

What is the name of your business?
The name of my business is DVCouture Bridal
What inspired you to enter your field of work?
While I was in college, I worked as a bridal sales consultant at Camille Bridal in West Hartford before it closed. I absolutely fell in love with the bridal world! I majored in fashion merchandising and design and always knew I wanted to do something in the fashion industry but working there pretty much made it clear that I loved bridal design. Working with brides was awesome and I loved how each one of them always looked to add details and accessories to give a unique touch to their look. I often had brides that liked certain accessories but just couldn’t find what they had in mind. That is where my business started. I found inspiration working with them on a daily basis and listening to what they wanted.
What do you love most about your job?
I love so much about it. My favorite part is custom orders. I love connecting with brides and even just giving advice and helping them out with their wedding planning. I love listening to their ideas and creating and seeing their vision come to live.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I find my inspiration in multiple outlets. I love browsing through couture shows of my favorite designers; Ellie Sabb is one of them! The fabrics the lace and embroidery work is amazing. Truly a work of art.
The seasons, I love spring time when flowers and trees are blooming and the fall foliage. It’s my favorite times of the year to take walks.. It’s refreshing and it’s when I get and feel the most creative.
And sometimes random thoughts inspire me. I get random ideas of new things to make and I just have to start designing them and creating them.
The most recent thing that brings so much inspiration is my daughters, the oldest one in particular. Every time she is with me when I am making accessories, in particular veils or hair pieces she always asks to try them on. I just love seeing her face expression when she sees herself in the mirror with them!
Do you work alone or with a team? Tell me about them.
I’m a one woman team for now. I do everything from start to finish from sketching to creating, to packing orders.
What goals do you have for the year?
I am stating back from square one as I took a long break when I had my daughters. My goal is to launch my website and introduce a new collection of accessories including capes and “gown changer” by the end of this year.
Another of my goal is to also network and get to know other vendors and be more proactive about that as I sometimes tend to be a little shy. My biggest goal is to get to a point where I can look into doing this full time. I currently work as an assistant technical designer for a denim wear company. All though I am in the fashion industry it is nothing like working in the bridal design world.
Tell me about a favorite memories while on the job.
I always remember one of my first brides. She had received some loose peals her mother got from Japan and wanted to use them for a hair piece. Her reaction when she got her hairpiece was so awesome and touching. She was so grateful.
What is the best piece of wisdom that you share with your brides/grooms/ clients about your industry?
I always tell my brides to just have fun and be themselves. So often brides get overwhelmed trying to make things perfect but they miss one of the most important things…having fun and enjoying this special time. So I always say have fun first and let the rest flow.
When you’re not making accessories, what do you love to do?
I love spending time with my family. I have 2 little ones, a 3 year old and a 6 month old and they are my world. I’m usually spending time with them and my husband. If I’m not doing that I’m usually doing something for my church. I help out with their social media and website.
