One. Appliances. For this I don’t just mean the small ones like your toaster and coffee pot, but the big appliances as well. We frequently clean out our fridges, but do we scrub the doors and handles? The outside of the dish washer? Your oven door? Don’t forget these areas that we look at and touch nearly every day. You’ll be amazed how quickly dirt accumulates. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to give your washer and dryer some love too.
Two. Windows (inside and out!) It is easy to forget about windowpanes, but right after the pollen season has passed it is a good time to wipe down the outside of windows as well. Don’t forget those blinds and curtains while you’re at it.
Three. Wall trim. If you have trim around the walls near the floor or decorative trim anywhere in your home, you will not be surprised to know that it too collects dust and cobwebs, especially if you have a pet or two. Wipe those mini surfaces clean.
Four. Your kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Don’t forget those handles and knobs.
Five. Vents and radiators. They’ve been working hard all winter long and now they’re holding onto way too much dust and dirt.
Six. Have you scrubbed your floors lately? Sure, you sweep or vacuum frequently, but when was the last time you deep washed your carpets or hard floors? Use a carpet steamer to get into the fibers and pull out the wooden floor polish.
Seven. Sofas and seats. Your seating accumulates a lot of dirt! An upholstery cleaner will get the job done right. Don’t forget your mattress while you’re at it. And if you’re feeling extra motivated, get those vehicle interiors while you’re at it.
Eight. Your pillows and comforter. We wash sheets weekly or bi-weekly, but what about the pillows and comforter? Always read the labels and dry clean when necessary, but these items should also be washed at least 1-2 times per year.
