Eli’s Tavern, Milford | Connecticut Charm

Milford is one of my favorite Connecticut Shoreline towns. It is my parent’s hometown and the town that I remember visiting the most during my childhood; days visiting my grandparents (my grandfather owned a service station in Milford), walking to Wanda’s Sugar Shack in downtown with my Aunt Sandy (a penny candy store which is sadly closed now), and day trips to Silver Sands Beach. I was in Milford last weekend with my husband and as we were walking to the Stonebridge we noticed Eli’s Tavern and I put it on my mental list to go back one day this summer, so you can imagine my surprise when I was invited to attend an event at Eli’s Tavern this week. Of course, I had to say yes!

If you know me, you know I’m not a big drinker or a fan of most alcohol besides the occasional glass of wine. But I have to say that I have a new favorite: the “Berries and Bubbles” on the cocktail menu is so very good!

I was very happy to run into Lydia, the blogger behind Chic On The Cheap, who I have known for a little while now and her friend Meghan of Closet Fashion. I also met many other wonderful CT bloggers at the event at Eli’s Tavern hosted by The Brunching Blonde and Bird Social Media.

If you want a good laugh with your meal, follow Pierre the Shark on Instagram. His food looks amazing and his stories crack me up. Everyone needs a little fun with their food!

The ahi tuna nachos were my favorite small plates on the menu, but the sliders and sweet potato fries were also amazing!

If you love hot foods, perhaps you should try the buffalo fried macaroni and cheese. They’re pretty mild if you’re afraid of too much spice, but they do come with some buffalo sauce for extra hotness. My second favorite was the Philly cheese steak egg rolls. If Matthew had been with me I know that he would have ordered these two appetizers as his entree.

With a name like “Gypsy chicken” how could you not try it?

Now for the meal of all meals; lobster Mac and cheese! I love lobster, but I don’t often order it because it usually has very little lobster in it. Not at Eli’s. There was plenty of delicious chunks of lobster and you can taste the lobster in the cheese sauce as well. If you’re looking for a place to eat in Milford during your visit to the shoreline, I highly recommend Eli’s Tavern for appetizers with a group of friends.

This summer I will be sharing more of my favorite places to eat along the shoreline.
