Jessica’s Maternity Photo Shoot | Lavender Pond Farm | Connecticut Maternity Photographer

In 2014 I had the honor of photographing Jessica’s first maternity session. That lovely little baby bump from 2014 is now an active three-year-old little girl. We took these photographs a little over a week ago, and the timing was perfect because Jessica just gave birth to a healthy baby boy, named Caleb, yesterday afternoon! Congratulations, Jessica and Brian! 

Brian, Jessica, and Elliana took a trip to meet me in Connecticut all the way from Albany New York. I had heard amazing things about Lavender Pond Farm and it was definitely on my list of places in Connecticut to visit. At first we thought about taking photos at a beach or by a lake, but when Jess showed me the white dress she wanted to wear, I knew that the best place for them was in a field of lavender. 

Lavender Pond Farm opened a few years ago in Killingworth Connecticut and it is this little state’s closest slice of Provence. The fields are small and at this time of year, mostly harvested for the season, but there were still many varieties in bloom and the farm had so much more to offer than we had expected. This photo bomb by Elliana was the cutest surprise. She ran up to me as I was preparing to take a photo of Jess and Brian. I had not even known I had taken it until I started editing images. 

The lavender smells heavenly. Next time I return I am planning on arriving before the store closes. 

We found a swing and a large chess set by the gazebo. There is also a pond behind the big barn. There are so many places for a family to explore. 

I adore these photos of Brian and Jess together. The evening light through the lavender was simply lovely. 

We snapped these images of Jess with the last of the evening light before the sun went down behind the hills.
