Live Lovely Archives | New York City

In the late summer of 2015 I had the exciting adventure of photographing Karissa and Phil’s New York City engagement. We went to the Brooklyn Bridge (life goal, check!), the flatiron building, Central Square, and ended the day in Central Park. On that trip at iconic places, Karissa and Phil were kind enough to take photos of Matthew and I as well. As we returned from a NYC trip a couple weeks ago, I thought that now would be a great time to take them out of the Live Lovely Archives. When I travel around I love Lonely Planet guide books like Discover New York City, because they have the best information and incredible photographs. Guidebooks are great for the highlights and they also give you a lot of history and information you usually won’t know unless you read about it. They will tell you the absolute best must-see places to go, however, the spontaneous places you stumble upon yourself usually become the most memorable.

I was able to check walking the Brooklyn Bridge off my life goal list. I call it my “Lovely Life” list. Some of the goals are big and others are very small, but each one is magical to me. The Brooklyn Bridge really is magic. It amazes me how humans can build something so big and how it transports so many people every day for so many years. It is incredible! Matthew also happens to love bridges. Every time we see a bridge it is like seeing one for the first time. As it was late morning, we had to wait for “quiet” moments to take photos on the bridge. It was much busier than it looked, even though many people still made it into the background of the shots.

At this moment the song “New York, New York!” from Gene Kelley’s On The Town got stuck in my head. “New York, New York, It’s a helluva town!”

The Bethesda Terrance is just as breathtaking in person as I had hoped it would be:

We explored all the places made famous on the silver screen.

Beautiful Central Park. Sometimes life feels like a movie. It is a very cinematic feeling. If you want to experience a day as beautiful as the movies, take a trip to Central Park.
