Spring Rituals; A Listicle

I enjoy writing listicles in my notebook. On a particularly grey day I decided to write one about about spring rituals that I look forward to each year. Spring is almost here and these are just a few of the many things I am looking forward to. What spring rituals are on your wish list?

  • Flower picking

  • Changing out the winter sheets and bedding for lighter spring blankets

  • Making a spring reading list

  • Opening the window a crack to let in the fresh air

  • Picking out seeds for your vegetable or flower gardens

  • Planting the seeds for the garden and watching them grow a little each day

  • Spring cleaning all the hidden corners, closets and drawers

  • Morning walks in the spring sunshine

  • Coloring Easter eggs

  • Picking dandelions to dry for dandelion tea or homemade dandelion oil

  • Making flower crowns

  • Brining out your spring wardrobe from the closet and donating the clothes that you no longer need

  • Pressing flowers

  • Making lilac or magnolia flower syrup

  • Spring time tea parties

  • Long walks after work now that the sun sets later

  • Making a spring music playlist

  • Adding an item from your spring wish list to your wardrobe

  • Reorganizing your kitchen pantry

  • The smell of lilacs

  • Drinking a spring time cup of tea in the morning and putting away the heartier and seasonal winter teas for later

  • Spring baking

  • Eating seasonal fruits and vegetables

  • Spring crafts like painting flower pots or making sun catchers with pressed flowers

  • Watching romantic spring movies

  • Taking local drives to find the spring flowers in bloom

  • Daffodil festivals

  • Looking at beautifully illustrated children’s books like Beatrix Potter, Cicely Mary Barker and Tasha Tudor

  • Reading a spring poem each morning

  • Pulling out your water color pallet for painting en plein air

  • Birdwatching and appreciating the new birdsong

  • Attending spring weddings, parties, picnics and celebrations

  • Returning to favorite authors and books like Jane Austen, Beatrix Potter, M. Milne, C.S. Lewis, and L.M. Montgomery

  • Putting on floral perfume

  • Wearing spring floral patterns

  • Walking through puddles in rain boots
