The Little Things No. 2

The little things really do add up, which is why every Friday I went to end the week on a positive note by appreciation for the little things in my life that make up a greater sense of joy.  I hope you join me today in appreciating the good, no matter how small.

Because this is about appreciation rather than perfection, I’m not only including my professional quality photos, but some cellphone snaps as well. You can expect to see a more candid look into my life every week with my The Little Things blog posts every Friday.

The little things that brought joy into my life this week:

This teacup.

My cousin Ginger found this 1940s tea cup for me at an antique shop when I was collecting vintage tea cups for our wedding reception. I donated many of the tea cups I collected, but I kept several favorites including this one and I still use them.

This photo from 2016.

This photo is from when Matthew proposed to me in Vieques in March 2016. Being Valentine’s Day, I was thinking a lot about this favorite moment today.

These lovely flowers.

Matthew had a doctor’s appointment nearby last week so he stopped by my office with these beautiful flowers.

This green tea.

My favorite go-to tea every morning when I get to the office.

These comfortable work out sneakers that don’t hurt my feet.

This comfy mattress cover.

As much as I love foam mattress covers; they’re loaded with toxic chemicals and they also get hard over time. They’re also not very recyclable or eco-friendly so I went with this cotton one that adds an extra layer of coziness for our bed and is also machine washable. It felt like a better choice for us and the environment. Even though, to my dismay, it came in a plastic bag.

My incredible friends.

So thankful that Sarah and I had time to catch up in person this week over dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (Sarah’s favorite place).

Madeleine.

This darling cat. When we first rescued Madeleine from the streets of Baltimore, she was so tiny and skinny that you could count every rib. She was very shy and wouldn’t sleep or cuddle up with us for years. Now we wake up every morning with her smooshed up against us in bed.

Antonio’s in Beacon Falls.

This restaurant is right next to us at home and they have the most incredible food. We adore Mina, the lady that owns and runs Antonio’s and Matthew made us reservations for tonight because they’re going to be busy this Valentine’s Day. If we had to pick a place as “our place,” This would be it.

What are the little things that you’re thankful for this week?
