The Little Things No. 22

The little things really do add up, which is why every Friday I end the week on a positive note with appreciation for the little things in my life that make up a greater sense of joy.  I hope you join me today in appreciating the good, no matter how small. I will also be sharing links from time to time about things that are inspirational, funny, beautiful, or important.

Because this is about appreciation rather than perfection, I’m not only including my professional quality photos, but some cellphone snaps as well. You can expect to see a more candid look into my life every week with my The Little Things blog posts every Friday.

Dear Friends,

For the first time since starting “The Little Things” series, I missed my first Friday. I had the day off of work and we went up to Rockport, Massachusetts for the day so I apologize for the delay! It certainly feels like summer is now in full swing. Last night we watched fireworks over the lake where I grew. up. Our neighbors certainly went all out to bring a little extra light and joy to everyone this year and my cousin Westen spent nearly a $1000 on fireworks for the family. Westen, Matthew, and a few of my cousins set them up on the dock and lit them up into quite the fireworks show. Boats out on the lake watching honked their horns and cheered in appreciation. With this holiday being a reminder that America is still a young country that has a lot of learning and growing to do, I hope that you were bale to find some happiness this holiday weekend.

The little things I appreciate this week are:

Having time to do my laundry.

Finally reorganizing our bedroom closet. It’s a challenge living in a. studio loft. It wasn’t a major change, but it did help some.

This quote:

“Changing the world doesn’t happen all at once. It’s an evolution, the sum of a billion tiny sparks, and some of those sparks come from you.”

— Katie Couric

Finding “clotted cream” at my local market. I studied abroad in England and I loved the clotted cream with jam and scones that was traditionally served with tea. I was very disappointed to discover that finding clotted cream is very rare back in the states.

This wall sign I spotted:

Fireworks out over the lake where I grew up.

This little girl skating over the BLM street art in Washington DC:

What little things have brought you joy this week?

With appreciation,

Courtney
