The little things really do add up, which is why every Friday I end the week on a positive note with appreciation for the little things in my life that make up a greater sense of joy. I hope you join me today in appreciating the good, no matter how small. I will also be sharing links from time to time about things that are inspirational, funny, beautiful, or important.
Because this is about appreciation rather than perfection, I’m not only including my professional quality photos, but some cellphone snaps as well. You can expect to see a more candid look into my life every week with my The Little Things blog posts every Friday.
Dear Friends,
I missed last week’s post! I promise it was not intentional. I attempted to post it from my phone, but had terrible service in the Adirondacks. We left early Friday to make our way to New York for a mountain top wedding. It was spectacular! As a wedding photographer I have seen wedding after wedding get canceled or postponed, sometimes several times per couple. My heart really goes out to engaged couples right now trying to plan their wedding days and for the vendors who work with them.
Many of my own couples have decided to have small ceremonies this year and bigger receptions next year, so I’m treating both events as one wedding and not charging extra except for travel when necessary. I really thought about how I would want to be treated if it were me. At this time of uncertainty when fuses are short I think that kindness is more important than ever.
I’m so thankful that we were invited to be able to witness such a loving event. I also met some truly wonderful people within Sarah and Al’s intimate guest list and wedding party.
This week, the little things I am thankful for:
This beautiful day:
Friends old and new.
Picnic weather is still here. I know that everyone is rushing fall but I am quite at my leisure right now.
Waterfalls. We saw a few on our trip to the Adirondacks and they were beautiful. Nature amazes me. It is incredible how quickly nature can cure a bad mood or even heal poor mental health.
Kayaking. I need to get out as much as I can while the weather is still warm.
That we live in New England. With the current pandemic, I feel extra fortunate to live in a place that took the pandemic so seriously. It feels good knowing that I can travel within the New England states safely and that the risk of transmission is so low here. I know that is not the case for everyone and my heart goes out to the rest of my home country. How beautiful is this drone photo of Rockport, Maine taken by my husband?
These beautiful New England buildings and sights.
Green smoothies. I have one every single day! Usually spinach, kale, or chard. I sweeten them with frozen berries, bananas, and avocados. They make me feel so good from the inside out.
Independent bookstores like this one in Rockport, Massachusetts.
What are you appreciating this week? I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
With appreciation,
Courtney
