The Little Things No. 32

The little things really do add up, which is why every Friday I end the week on a positive note with appreciation for the little things in my life that make up a greater sense of joy.  I hope you join me today in appreciating the good, no matter how small. I will also be sharing links from time to time about things that are inspirational, funny, beautiful, or important.

Because this is about appreciation rather than perfection, I’m not only including my professional quality photos, but some cellphone snaps as well. You can expect to see a more candid look into my life every week with my The Little Things blog posts every Friday.

Dear Friends,

Fall has finally arrived in Connecticut this week as the leaves are beginning to change. That being said, it was 82 degrees Fahrenheit today so maybe I spoke too soon. Last weekend I put away most of my summer clothes and pulled out my autumn sweaters and corduroy. I never feel like I am ready to say goodbye to summer because I love the warm weather so much, but there is so much to look forward to every autumn. Although fair season has been sadly cancelled, there are many ways to get out and enjoy the season outdoors this fall. I hope that wherever you live that you are enjoying plenty of time outside this week.

The house we put an offer on (and were outbid on) came back on the market again so we put in our offer for a second time. However, once again, we were outbid! We’re the backup offer, but it is unlikely that we’ll get it. Still, I find myself keeping my hopes up. It is a lovely little dream house. It is hard to imagine that most people could appreciate such a small house as I would. Still,I’m trying my best to practice gratitude. We’re pretty unhappy with where we are for numerous reasons. With being outbid, those reasons began to fester. I’m doing my best to remind myself of all the good instead of thinking of all the negatives.

The little things I am thankful for this week are:

The upcoming wedding I have tis Sunday. It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day for photos.

The leaves are beginning to change and fall!

Sweater weather. It comes and goes and I find myself wearing plenty of layers that I remove and add back on throughout the day, but I love the comfort and safety associated with a sweater. I have had this one for several years. I love how timeless autumn fashion is.

Small New England towns in autumn. Kent is one of my personal favorites.

New England covered bridges.

It is almost pick-you-own pumpkin season! Although I try not to think about it before October, I do love seeing them at stores, farm stands, and on porches.

What little things are you thankful for this week?

With appreciation,

Courtney
