The Little Things No. 5

The little things really do add up, which is why every Friday I want to end the week on a positive note with appreciation for the little things in my life that make up a greater sense of joy.  I hope you join me today in appreciating the good, no matter how small.

Because this is about appreciation rather than perfection, I’m not only including my professional quality photos, but some cellphone snaps as well. You can expect to see a more candid look into my life every week with my The Little Things blog posts every Friday.

Happy Friday, my friends. I am so thankful it is Friday because although I have recovered from the flu, I’m still feeling a little sick and tired. I can use a good weekend. And even better; it is Daylight Saving Time this Sunday! I am so excited for an extra hour of daylight, especially after work on weekdays. It is going to make such a big difference for my mood and first thing I plan on doing is going for walks again after work. I missed my evening walks.

This week, I don’t have too much to share. It has been a quiet week and for that I am thankful. Why oh why do we feel the need to be busy and productive all of the time?

The little things I appreciate this week:

Spring cleaning.

Spring will be here by the end of the month and I simply can’t wait. I have already started my spring cleaning and I switched out my candles to light springlike scents.

My lovely friend Kari.

It is Kari’s birthday today! Kari is the first friend I made at college and I am so thankful for her friendship after all of these years, especially since we live far apart. I love that no matter how much time goes by, we will always share a close connection.

My bookcases.

They’re a little messy right now, but I love my bookcases. Just looking at them brings me comfort and joy. I plan on going though them all when I spring clean this month.

My old backpack.

I bought this side bag before my freshmen year of college. It has been with me a very long time now (going on twelve years) and I used it as a lap top bag up until this week. There are holes in every corner and the handles started ripping too so it was time to retire this old bag. I’m thankful for the memories this bag carried along all four years of college and my jobs after graduation.

My new laptop bag.

It is time for a new era. While my old bag was perfect for my teenage self, this bag is more mature and sophisticated for a woman entering her thirties this year.

These probiotics & probiotics.

These have been a life changer. Since my teen years I suffered from really bad bloating and other stomach problems. I thought maybe it was just how my body was. But then I heard about probiotics and probiotics and how important they are for digestion and preventing bloating and within just a few days I started noticing a big difference. My waistline looks completely different.

Music in the mornings.

I am so thankful for my Crosley record player, a Christmas gift from Matthew when I was a junior in college. This record player has been with me all of this time and I simply love listening to music in the mornings. It is amazing how big an impact music can have on your mood and your daily happiness. Listening to music in the mornings brings me so much joy. I’ve been into David Bowie and Dolly Parton a lot lately. What are you listening to?

What little things do you appreciate this week?
