The Sunflower Fields At Buttonwood Farms | Griswold, CT | Connecticut Charm

Buttonwood Farms is one of my “happy places” here in Connecticut. For me, a “happy place” is simply a place I can go when I’m feeling down and it brings me joy. Usually these places are outside in nature, quiet, and local. Buttonwood Farms is an incredible sunflower farm in Griswold Connecticut. Every July they have an event called “Sunflowers for Wishes” to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation. Children can take tractor rides through the sunflowers and there is also a farm fresh ice cream stand, where you can even get a sunflower seed ice cream. There are several beautiful sunflower fields in Connecticut, but buttonwood Farms is my favorite. 

The true magic of Buttonwood Farms is revealed when the sunset arrives. 

Get yourself an ice cream cone and explore. Then make your way across the street to the historic stone wall to watch the sun set over the field of sunflowers. Even on a cloudy day, the sunsets here do not disapoint. Life does not get any more beautiful than this moment. Every one deserves a happy place, a local place where they can escape to on a moments notice to take in a quiet moment, to appreciate the beauty of this wonderful life, and to slow down to focus on what is truly important.
