Wedding Wine Tasting | Selecting Your Wedding Wine List | Live Lovely Weddings

Matthew and I created our own personal wedding wine list consisting of two red wines and two white wines (a sweet and dry of each) and a non-alcoholic sparkling cider for the children and non-drinking guests.

We chose our favorite red and white wine from our favorite Vineyard in Maryland; Boordy (made famous for its location as one of the wedding scenes in the movie Runaway Bride). Because wine shipping restrictions did not allow for it to be shipped to Connecticut, we ordered and shipped it to a relative in New York to bring to the wedding.

Because the red Jazzberry wine and the white Tango Peach wine from Boordy are very sweet, we wanted a less sweet wine to compliment the list and the chicken and fish dinners at our wedding. We also wanted to represent a Connecticut Vineyard for our wedding to support a local business and to give our out-of-state guests a taste of Connecticut. Matthew and I decided to make picking out our wedding wine a fun adventure with a wedding wine tasting. We have driven by Sunset Meadows in Goshen Connecticut a couple times and wanted to stop by and it also came highly recommended from several of my cousins. It was our first stop on our list and ended up becoming our only stop!

It was a rainy day in Connecticut, but it turned into the perfect day for a wine tasting.

Matthew is a good note taker! We decided to try several reds and whites and vote on our favorites for the wedding. We ended up choosing the Vidal Blanc and the Twisted Red. The staff at Sunset Meadows is amazing and very welcoming. They gave us these lovely Connecticut Wine Trail passports to use this year and recommended the best wines for our guests. Each wine we tasted was wonderful. Usually when I go for a wine tasting I usually like a couple and could not care for the rest, but this time I truly enjoyed every wine we sampled on the list.

Although Shades, a delicious sparkling wine that is not on our wedding list, I had to bring a bottle home! This is easily becoming my new favorite wine. We also found out by the end of our tasting that Sunset Meadows was named one of the United States top 101 wineries this year. We now have a complete set of wine for the wedding. This week I will be ordering our wedding wine lists to place at each seat. If you are choosing your own wine for the wedding, we highly recommend that you set up a wedding wine tasting, much like you would to try out wedding cake flavors.
