Katie & Walter Teter Woodwinds Wedding – Part One

Katie and Walter’s Wedding took place at Woodwinds in Branford, CT on May 19th. Driving up to Woodwinds I was excited to see the inside. It was even more beautiful than I imagined. Katie and Walter picked the perfect place for their small wedding. I utilized the grand staircase with the amazing chandelier for the gown portrait. Later on it made the perfect place for bridal party photos when the rain forced us inside.

I I love how Katie’s mother stood back to watch her daughter get ready for her wedding. I am glad that I was able to capture this small moment.

Katie gave these cuff links and tie clip to Walter as a wedding gift. The box says “To my future husband.” Walter approached me to make sure that I photographed them along with Katie’s jewelry. “She put a lot of thought into these and I want to make sure you get to photograph them for her,” he said. Aww!
“How do you put cuff links on? Is this right?” Walter asked the guys. The groomsmen replied, “How should we know?”
The guys were a lot of fun to talk to.

I told the guys to, “Give me your best James Bond,” for these photos. Just as Katie’s hair was started a fuse blew. It took a little while to get the power back, but it was a memorable moment. In the complete darkness the girls lit up the counter top with their cell phones so that Katie’s hair could be completed. I tried my best to take photos in the pitch black. On my camera they came out almost completely black. I always try to get my best exposure in-camera so that it does not have to be edited much afterwards. It is also a much more efficient way to work. However, when in doubt take the photo any way. Even though I felt like I was not getting anything, later on I was able to edit the photos enough to see what was going on in these photos and the expressions on the girls’ faces. The result is not great, but memorable photographs.
Matthew was my photographic assistant at this wedding and he captured this great candid as the guys prepared to go to the ceremony. They lined up perfectly for just a brief moment before scattering.

It really started to rain about 5-10 minutes before the ceremony begun. There was a plan B ceremony set up indoors, but Katie and Walter weren’t going to let a little rain ruin their day. Just minutes after having her makeup and hair completed and her dress tied up, Katie braved the rain. This photo is one of my personal favorite black and white images from the ceremony. I love the emotion of the photograph and you can see the rain coming down in the back ground. Above, Walter stands by his groomsmen and his father, Stephen, who was the best man. In memory of Katie’s father, these lilies were placed on a chair in the front row by her mother. The gesture was beautiful and meaningful to Katie and there was a moment of silence before the ceremony begun. On the upcoming Facebook post I will share a photo of the gorgeous bracelet that Katie had made in his memory. Part 2 of Katie and Walter’s wedding will feature the bridal Portraits and the reception pictures. Part 2 has some of my personal favorite photos from the wedding and will be posted online before June 11th. Please leave Katie and Walter a comment below this post. I’m sure they would love to hear your well wishes! Congratulations Katie and Walter Teter!

Thank you 🙂 It took a while to get them all water marked and uploaded, but I wanted to make sure they made it up. Trying to figure out why the mobile website is coming up as grey “Late August” page. Hopefully soon my website will be available for mobile viewing as well. I’ll get the rest of the photos up on Monday hopefully.ReplyCancel
